Hand made wooden spoon and spatula, roughly shaped with an axe from a piece of storm damaged apple tree. Carved with knives, sanded and finished with food safe mineral oil. (this mineral oil is not sustainable, later Items are finished with linseed)
These to two items were cut from the same log, simply split down the middle and shaped. There is a colour difference between the two which i am guessing is because of its reaction to air. The Spoon was first then the spatula, which sat in a bag to keep it moist and in doing so has caused some orange colouration. To me it shows how two items from the same beginnings can turn out so differently in the end.
The spoon does have a small crack which was fixed with a food safe glue and comes with the idea that nothing is perfect as we all have our own ‘cracks’.
